A former player of the nation’s top two clubs, Emmanuel Yartey, aka ‘Dr Panie’, is now a madman roaming the streets of Accra.
According to multiple reports, Dr Panie has been seen on the streets of Bubuashie and other suburbs of the capital, looking unkempt and mostly mumbling to himself.
Some former teammates have also conceded that the former skillful player lost his mind due to indulging in drugs after his playing days passed away.
“Some years back, he used to join us train at this same field but we usually noticed some uncommon behaviours and actions”, a former teammate of Yartey told SportsObama.com.
“Some of us are aware he was doing drugs and later, he stopped coming to train. We would not see him for months then he will resurface again in some funny clothes even without slippers.
“It is sad to see him this way, but I’m not surprised as I had seen him through this despite attempts from some people to help but it just can’t stop”. he added.
Yartey played for both Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko in a storied career.
