An application by the suspended Human Rights lawyer, Francis-Xavier Sosu, for his suspension to be temporarily lifted by the Appeals Court has been thrown out.
The higher court is to hear Sosu’s appeal against his suspension by the General Legal Council, but the lawyer filed a stay to be placed on his suspension whilst the Appeal was litigated.
However, the Appeals Court did not grant the stay, meaning Sosu would remain suspended, at least until the final determination of his appeal.
The celebrated human rights lawyer was suspended by the General Legal Council earlier this year after adjudicating a case in which he was accused of cheating a client out of some money. He also received a further ban for advertising his services on social media.
