Kofi Kinaata Says He Would Have Become A Footballer Instead Of A Singer If Not For An Injury

Kofi Kinaata

If you didn’t know, Kofi Kinaata was so talented as a footballer that he would have been a professional if not for an injury which cut that career short.
The ‘Confession’ hitmaker, who is one of the most talented musicians in the country right now, would probably never have become who he is today if not for that injury.
Indeed, to this day, Kinaata says he loves football much more than music.
“I love football and to be honest, I will always choose football over music if I had my way. I would have preferred to be a footballer. You see, football is my first love. Music came along later.” he told Showbiz in a recent interview.
“ I was one of the best football players in one of the local teams in Takoradi. Football is in my genes. My big brother is Charles Kinaata who played for Hearts of Oak some time ago. He is currently a floating player. Some of the guys I played with in Takoradi are Theophilus Nyame… and Bernard Morrison,… currently plying his trade with Orlando Pirates, South Africa.”
“I love football to the extent that if today, I have to choose between watching the latest music videos and a football match, I will always pick the latter” he added.
Kinaata further revealed that aside his injury, his family and friends put pressure on him to give up football for music since he was talented in that as well.
“My family and friends put pressure on me to do music especially those who knew I had the talent to sing. Also, my injury during one of our football matches made me take a break for a long time.
“Again although football was my main focus at that time, I did music alongside it but my ultimate goal was to become one of the best footballers the world has ever come across,”
Kinaata added that he hoped he can one day get back to his first love, which is playing football.
“I do not think my age should be a problem if I decide to go back to football.”, said the singer, who’s rapidly approaching his 30’s.
