The Ghana Football Association has issued a stern statement pushing back against a report by Atinka TV which said money from a Black Stars sponsorship deal has been misused by President Kwesi Nyantakyi.
The report said the monies from the Puma deal are not paid directly into the FA’s coffers and that only Kwesi Nyantakyi has knowledge of how the money is spent.
It also said the FA has never accounted for the money.
In a hard hitting statement released today, the GFA denied the allegations and promised legal action against Atinka for the report.

PRESS STATEMENT REGARDING PUMA CONTRACT
Our attention has been drawn to a recent media report on Atinka TV and FM regarding the Puma apparel contract with the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The report, which was published on the internet and widely circulated on social media, sought to create the impression that the financial gains from the agreement is not paid into the GFA accounts and has ‘never been properly accounted for’.
It further claimed that the GFA President Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi is only person with the knowledge of how the funds from the agreement are received and disbursed.
The GFA wishes to state that the claims by the reports are maliciously false, calculated to cause damage to the reputation of the GFA and Mr Nyantakyi.
The GFA wishes to state the following facts:
1. The GFA’s contract with Puma is not the preserve of the President of the federation alone. The contract is thoroughly discussed by the Executive Committee with minutes of such meetings available.
2. The financial gains from our contract with Puma are paid directly into the accounts of the GFA and captured in our annual audited accounts. The audited accounts are also made available to our members at Congress.
3. All funds from Puma – and indeed all our sponsors – are received directly by the GFA through our accounts and properly accounted for as can be seen in our audited accounts by the Auditor General of the Ghana.
Meanwhile, the GFA will pursue legal action over the reputational damage suffered by the federation and its President over the report.
