Government has donated Ghc 10,000 to Kumasi Asante Kotoko following their recent accident, and pledged to foot all medical bills incurred by the injured members of the team.
Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei-Mensah visited the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital today where those under admission are receiving treatment, and delivered the cash and the pledge.
The Kumasi based team had an accident around Nkawkaw Wednesday night whilst returning back home after a Premier League game in Accra. One person, the team’s deputy equipment manager, died – with many others sustaining injuries.
The club released an official statement earlier today addressing the situation.
“I had to visit the players before going to the office this morning. From here we will have a meeting on the issue and decide what we can do for the players.” said Osei-Mensah.
“The KMA and the Regional Coordinating Council will take care of the hospital bills to assist the team.
“The Regional Coordinating Council and the KMA have put our heads together and so we are donating an amount of GHS10,000 to the team to assure them that we are with them in these trying times.” he added.
