I Collapsed After Gyan's Penalty Miss In 2010 World Cup – Richard Kingson

Legendary Black Stars goalie Richard ‘Olele’ Kingson has revealed that he literally fainted in 2010 after Asamoah Gyan missed that infamous penalty for Ghana against Uruguay.
The Black Stars earned a last minute penalty against the South American side after Luis Suarez handled Dominic Adiyiah’s header on the line, but Gyan missed the resulting spot kick.
Olele says after the kick was missed, he simply blacked out and after he came to, he started questioning his life choices.
“When we got the penalty I don’t know  something spoke to me said no hold your heart so I have to turn my  face and face the crowd for a seconds then I turned to watch the penalty,” he said
“So when he missed the penalty is like, I had a black out I couldn’t know what’s going I didn’t see anybody on the on the field.
“So I was down, and I was thinking about my life and I said what’s happening to me because I don’t understand.”
Kingson said Gyan’s miss and his blackout messed with his head and he wasn’t fully concentrating during the penalty shootouts.
“So during the penalty shootout I wasn’t myself and I was not concentrating, I was somewhere else and I wanted to tell the coach to change me but it was too late.”
Ghana went on to lose the shootout, missing out on a historic chance to become the first African country to make a world cup semi-finals.
