The Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) have found a recording device hidden within the office of Lands and Natural Resources Minister Peter Amewu.
A regular sweep of the Minister’s office by the national security body revealed the offending device, neatly hidden by whoever planted it.
The device, which picked up both audio and visuals from the office, was hidden in a huge plaque of the national coat of arms hanging in the office. It was made up of a camera, a storage device and a transmitter.
As Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Amewu is government’s point man in the fight against galamsey, which raises huge questions over who might have planted the device and what exactly their motives were.
Amewu confirmed the alarming discovery in an interview with Joy News Monday, describing the development as “quite surprising,”
