An opposition politician in Tanzania has been arrested after she reportedly insulted the President, John Magufuli.
The BBC reports that Halima Mdee was picked up by police in the capital of Dar-es-Salaam after she said the President was ‘ill-mannered’.
Magufuli has been praised since coming to power for his fight against government waste and corruption, including cancelling an expensive independence day parade and limiting travel for ministers, but he has also shown an authoritarian streak.

An opposition MP in Tanzania has been arrested by police for allegedly insulting President John Magufuli by saying he had become “ill-mannered” and would one day “order Tanzanians to go topless”, local media reports.
Halima Mdee was detained on Tuesday evening on the orders of a district commissioner in the main city, Dar es Salaam, after he accused her of making “unacceptable” comments at a meeting of her Chadema party.
Four policemen picked her up fro home in Dar es Salaam, local meda reports.
Ms Mdee and Chadema have not yet commented.
Under the law, she has to be released or charged within 48 hours.
