Gay Marriage Legalised In Germany After Parliamentary Vote

A majority vote in the German parliament has led to the revision of the country’s marriage laws to include a partnership between two people of the same s*x.

The vote ended with 393 MP’s voting for, 226 voting against and four MP’s abstaining.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel, of the Christian Democrats Party (CDU), voted against the measure.

In line of the vote, same s*x couples in the Western European country will now be able to legally get married – and enjoy its associated civil benefits, including the ability to adopt children.

“Marriage is entered into for life by two people of different or the same sex” the German legal code would now be amended to read.
