The most patronised National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) final in years came to a sore end as the Quiz Misteress’ handbag was stolen in the chaos of the winner’s celebrations.
Prempeh College fought off a spirited fight from St Thomas Aquinas to pick up the winner’s medal, with defending champions Adisadel College coming in at a distant third.
Amidst the jubilation of the the winning school, it turned out that Dr. Elsie Effah Kaufmann’s black silk handbag with a red zip had vanished.
The handbag ended up making more news, as students of Adisadel College were accused of having stolen it in anger at their loss.
However, the bag has since been recovered.
Prempeh College’s headmaster, Samuel Fordjour, told Adom Fm early Friday that a hidden camera had captured the suspect, leading to the swift recovery of the bag.
“When we met yesterday, I was told the bag has been found and that they had traced the person who stole the bag and had gone for the bag, a camera at the location helped to trace the person…,” he told Adom FM’s ‘Dwaso Nsem’ Friday.
According to reports, the handbag contained the car keys, ID cards, keys to room, cash and other valuables of the quiz mistress, who is a senior lecturer at the University of Ghana.
