Mexico beat the senior national team, the Black Stars, by a lone goal Wednesday in an international friendly game.
Elias Hernandez converted a first half penalty to put the El Tri ahead, a lead they held till the end of the game.
Both Kwesi Appiah and his Mexican counterpart named second string sides for the game, which did not impact the competitiveness of the fixture.
Ghana gave a good account of themselves, creating more chances than their opponents.
However, Hernandez’s lone goal stood, as Mexico picked up the victory in front of 37,617 fans at the NRG Stadium in Houston.
Ghana is slated to take on the United States in the second friendly of the tour July 1.
