Ghanaian rapper M.anifest has bemoaned the lack of support available to artists in the country to pursue their careers.
The rapper was interviewed by the BBC’s ‘Global Beats’ program whilst he was in Cannes for the annual Midem festival, where he joined a group of selected artists from around the world.
M.anifest scoffed at the question over the available backing for Ghanaian artists, saying it was non-existent.
He said artists have to build everything themselves, and sometimes survive by collaborating with other up and comers to barter their services to each other.
‘Global Beats’ is a BBC World Service Music documentary program.
Listen to M.anifest at this link…starts around the 46m mark.
