PHOTO: School Children Presented With Fowls As Prizes At Speech And Prize Giving Day!

When you speak of that West African nation known as Ghana, it seems we have money for everything in this world except what really matters.

We can waste money on bus branding and sending private citizens on pilgrimage, but providing for schools in the country to have the most basic amenities is a huge no-no.

Recently we heard news of a ICT teacher forced to let students use stones as mouses because the school had no ‘real’ computers for him to show to the children – who in the end would be taking the same exams as their counterparts who have their own laptops at home.

The latest educational faux pas is a school in the Ashanti Region, where students who won prizes at a recently held Speech and Prize giving day were presented with fowls.

Fowls, as in animals.

A photo of the students holding up their fowls has lit up social media. Whilst some praise the move, saying a fowl is a valuable commodity for the children, others have branded it a disgrace.
