A family gathering was held Thursday to mark the milestone of former President Jerry John Rawlings turning the ripe old age of 70.

Surrounded by his long time wife and daughters, a visibly elated Rawlings celebrated his long and distinguished life.

The former leader had already been provided with this pleasant surprise for his big day.
