Ice TV To Head To Court Over NMC Order To Stop Airing P*rn

Ice TV are not taking the NMC decision to ban the airing of p*rn on their channel lightly, threatening to head to court to seek clarification of the NMC rule.

The media regulatory agency issued a directive to three tv stations – TV XYZ and Thunder TV being the other two – to cease airing p*rn or risk losing their licences.

The directive came after a complaint was filed with the commission against the three stations for airing p*rn on free to air platforms.

The Commission, citing a section of their broadcasting guidelines, closed the door on the three stations ever being able to air p*rnographic material.

“Section 7 (e) of the NMC Broadcasting Guidelines provides that “Actual s*xual intercourse between humans should at no time be transmitted…this provision does not admit of any “exceptions,” NMC Chair Kwasi Gyan-Apenteng said of their directive.

However, General Manager of Ice TV, Samuel Owusu Asare, told Citi Fm that whilst they are complying with the directive, they would head to court to seek clarification over whether the NMC has the mandate to stop them.

Looks like this saga is far from over!
