Parliament unanimously approved the appointment of new Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo Monday, clearing the way for her to be sworn into office.
President Nana Akufo-Addo nominated the long time Supreme Court Justice to replace Georgina Wood, who stepped down after ten years as CJ.
Akuffo was vetted by Parliament last week, and at today’s sitting her appointment was fully approved.
The President then administered to her the oath of allegiance as she takes over as Ghana’s new Chief Justice.
I have just administered the Oath of Allegiance, the Judicial Oath and the Oath of Secrecy to the Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo.
