A police officer has allegedly beaten a taxi driver to pulp at Gomoa Akotsi-Ojobi in the Central Region Tuesday afternoon.
Narrating the incident to journalist, Francis Opoku, the Vice Chairman for Gomoa Akotsi – Ojobi bus station said, the police officer – whose name was only given as Corporal Charles – stationed at Senya Breku but on duty at the Kasoa police station subjected the taxi driver, Meshach Armah to severe beating after the driver failed to give him GHC100 he requested from the driver for wrongful parking.
“The police officer demanded money from the driver which he refused and then after some few minutes, the police officer came back to beat the driver mercilessly” he said.
Some of the angry taxi drivers stormed the Gomoa Ojobi police station and threatened to beat up the police officer if the IGP fails to sanction him duly.
“If the matter isn’t settled properly we will take the matter into our own hands and deal with the police man. We know him and he is fond of that behavior. He is just like a police armed robber. He should be dealt with otherwise we will do it to him next time we see him…” they warned.
The Ojobi district Police Commander, ASP David Osei Foffie said his outfit has begun investigations into the matter and promised justice will be served.

Meanwhile, the victim is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
