Former Hearts of Lions midfielder Kwame Bonsu has been jailed for two years in Sweden after being found guilty of raping and abusing his former wife.
Bonsu, 22, played for second-tier side Gefle IF in the Scandinavian nation, but has had his contract cancelled by the club after his conviction and sentencing.
The Ghanaian was accused in 2015 by his former wife of raping and abusing her, and the case drew to a case Friday with Bonsu receiving the two year sentence.
After he’s served his term, he would be deported back home – and be banned from entering Sweden for the next ten years.
He’s also been ordered to pay his ex $14,000 in damages.
