The seventh and eighth season’s of HBO’s mega hit Game of Thrones have been confirmed to be the shortest seasons yet, with seven and six episodes respectively.

However, it looks like even though the show would have fewer episodes, those episodes would run far longer than normal.

According to David Benioff, one half of the showrunners, the season 7 finale would run for 81 minutes – almost one hour and a half.

That’s longer than some movies run for.

Game of Thrones season 7 returns July 16.
