English side Manchester United have overtaken Real Madrid as the most valuable team in the world, according to Forbes.
In their latest edition of the World’s Most Valuable Clubs, Forbes values the Europa League Champions at $3.69 billion, taking them ahead of both Spanish mega clubs Real Madrid and Barcelona.
It’s the first time in the past five years that United, which has fallen down steadily since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, have returned to the summit of the list. At $3.64 bn, Barcelona comes in as the second most valuable team in the world, followed by Real Madrid. ($3.58bn)
Bayern Munich and Manchester City complete the top five, followed by Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Juventus and Tottenham Hotspurs.
Forbes calculated the world’s most valuable clubs by looking at a combination of factors including advertising and sponsorship revenue, competition prize money, kit and stadium deals and many others. Figures are for the 2015/2016 league season.
