The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, several members of his cabinet and top military officers in the country paid a courtesy call on the family of the late Major Maxwell Mahama on Monday.
The President and his entourage where there to express their condolences in person over the horrible death of the late soldier.
Accompanying the President included Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul, Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta, Gender Minister Otiko Djaba, the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. Gen. Obed Akwa, and many other dignitaries.
It was at this meeting that the President announced the country’s commitments to the family – including erecting a monument in his honour, a Ghc 500,000 trust for his wife and kids and the posthumous promotion of the Captain to the rank of Major.
