A snail seller in Denkyira-Obuasi whom the late Capt Mahama bought snails from on the day of his faithful demise, started the chain of events which eventually led to the brutal lynching of the military officer.
The police CID, at a press conference in Accra held earlier today (Friday), recounted what their preliminary investigation has been able to establish so far about the events leading up to the death of Capt Mahama.
According to the Director-General of the Police CID, DCOP Bright Oduro, Mahama during his jogging stopped to buy snails from a trader. Whilst taking out his money to pay, the trader spotted his pistol tucked into his clothing.
She then called the infamous assemblyman, William Baah, that she had spotted an armed person moving through the town.
Baah then organised the mob which eventually found the soldier and brutalised him to death.
According to police, the mob wielded weapons such as clubs, cement blocks and machetes, which were used to kill the Captain.
