Ambassador Victor Smith has added his name to the chorus of interested leaders ready to lead the NDC into the 2020 elections.
Ghana’s former representative to the United Kingdom has made it clear that he has every intention of running in 2020.
However, like Ekow Spio-Garbrah, Smith believes Mahama has the right of way, thus he would only run if Mahama does not run.
“I’ll offer myself…I’ve gone through enough and I don’t see the commitment from certain people, I don’t see the kind of drive I’m looking for.” he told Asempa Fm.
“Not because of NDC per say but for Ghana, becuase we can’t be making the same mistakes otherwise that upheaval we talked about one day will face us.”
Many names have offered to lead the NDC in 2020, despite the healthy period of three years in between. It’s highly likely the NDC would have a crowded primary field when the time comes, much like the NPP did in 2007.
