Premier League Champions Chelsea and newly promoted Newcastle United have reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of Ghanaian winger Christian Atsu.
According to multiple reports in England, the two teams have agreed on a £6m fee for the explosive 25 year old.
Atsu has been on loan at Newcastle since last year, and played a crucial role in the team’s push for promotion back to the top flight.
He played 32 games and scored five times, including two late season goals that helped Newcastle not only qualify but win the Championship trophy.
Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez is intent on strengthening his squad, and Atsu’s potential signing is a big step to that goal.
The deal is expected to be officialized in the coming weeks.
