UN Applauds Sulley Muntari’s Walk-Off After Suffering Racist Abuse

The top United Nations Human Rights official has applauded Ghanaian international Sulley Muntari for his brave action in walking off the pitch after suffering racial abuse.

As we reported Monday, the former Black Star was racially abused by fans of the Serie A side Cagliari on Sunday as his team Pescara played them at their home grounds.

Incredibly, Sulley received criticism from his coach for the walk off, but the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Ra’ad al-Hussein, applauded Muntari and called for Fifa to tackle the issue of persistent racism in the game.
