Eminem Sues New Zealand’s Ruling Party Over ‘Lose Yourself’

Eminem

Eminem has many, truly timeless singles to his name – ‘My Name Is’, Not Afraid’, ‘Cleanin’ Out My Closet’ – countless others.

But there are only two songs in contention when it comes to his magnum opus – ‘Stan’ and ‘Lose Yourself’ – so he doesn’t mess around with any of those.

Which is why its no wonder to hear the rapper is suing New Zealand’s ruling party, ‘The National Party’, for using ‘Lose Yourself’ to campaign without the proper permission.

An advert used by the party during campaigning in the country’s last elections contained a soundtrack which was similar to Eminem’s iconic ‘Lose Yourself’ single, itself the soundtrack for his 2002 movie ‘8 Mile’.

The party argues they were provided with the beat by a music production company known as Beatbox.

The case has commenced in New Zealand, with the trial judge hearing both versions of the song Monday.
