For the past two days, and even through yesterday’s rains in Accra, devastated unemployed Nurses have besieged the premises of the Health Ministry, demanding Government to immediately post them else they are sleeping there forever.

All the Nurses are said to be fresh graduates from Nursing Trainee Schools who have never been posted as their usual system of employment demands. Some of them have been home from 2014 without a job.

James Abugri, President of the Coalition Of Unemployed Nurses told Gh One News that diplomatic means of frequently visiting the Ministries for about 9 months now to have their grievances settled has not worked therefore resulting to this means so that at least Ghanaians will see what they are going through.

One disgruntled Nurse also told Gh One News that whenever there are questions about her unemployment from her parents and others, it makes her contemplate suicide because people actually think she failed at the school, hence her joblessness.

However, detailing the motive for their sudden picketing at the Ministries, James noted that as part of the NPP’s 100 days in office achievement, Dr.Bawumia announced that the NPP has processed about 11,000 Nurses to be posted which is not true. He lamented that if it’s true then all of them would have been in the process to be posted. According to James, only 7,000 have been taken care of and that process was even started by the NDC government which the new NPP Government halted until a month ago and presently there are about 4000 of them more with little hope of employment.
