A Ghanaian student at Virgina Commonwealth University is dead after being shot.
Samuel Kwarteng, who was studying electrical engineering at the institution and was only a short period off earning his degree, got involved in an altercation with one Emmanuel E. Jordan, who shot Kwarteng in the midst of their argument.
Samuel was 20.
“It is with great sadness that I inform the university community of the tragic death this morning of a VCU student,” VCU President Michael Rao said in a statement.
“I am sure you join me in sending our thoughts and prayers to Samuel’s family and friends in this time of great loss,” Rao continued.
The incident occurred off campus, at the 1200 block of W. Moore Street, where the suspect, Emmanuel Jordan, lives. A neighbour said they heard arguments, then a gunshot from the building. Kwarteng died on the porch of the home.
