Multimedia Group Apologises to NPP And Its Reps Over Newsfile Controversy

Following online backlash resulting from Joy Fm’s Newsfile host-Samson Lardi Ayenini remarks that two representatives the NPP sent to represent the government on the news analysis show yesterday did not meet the standard of the programme and were consequently not accepted–Multimedia Group, owners of Joy Fm have issued an apology to the NPP and the representatives.

Below is the full statement:

This comment by the host of Newsfile seems to have hurt many people and has generated a controversy.

The intention was not to denigrate the person of those who the NPP chose to represent it on Newsfile yesterday.

The decision on who appears on any of our shows rests with the editorial team and we would stand by those decisions.

However, we apologise unreservedly for the use of words that suggest that the two gentlemen are not up to the standard.
