Ghana Meteorological Agency Says Reports They Predicted A Rainstorm Tonight Are False

The Ghana Meteorological Agency has described as false reports claiming that the agency has predicted a rainstorm over the entire country tonight (Thursday).

Joe Tetteh Portuphy, head of the forecasting unit of the agency, said the prediction of a storm, credited to one Michael Padi, is not coming from his unit and cannot be true.

Portuphy spoke to Starrfmonline on the supposed predicition, which has since elaspsed and is causing the agency ridicule online. Portuphy denied they ever issued such a prediction.

“This is not coming from my outfit…my outfit is the forecasting unit that is the operational centre. Yes I saw it on the social media but I can’t vouch for that…that is why I told all those who called me to ignore that information,” Portuphy said.

A Ghana News Agency report earlier in the day had claimed Michael Padi, a senior meteorologist at the agency, issued the warning of a nationwide rainstorm set to commence at seven, and thus people should adjust their schedules accordingly.
