The older brother of comedian/actor Eddy Murphy, Charlie Murphy, has died after losing a protracted battle with leukemia.
Charles passed away late Wednesday, with his representative confirming the news to Variety.
He was 57.
Charles was a comedian/actor like his younger brother, and was a regular on Comedy Central’s Chappelle Show, both as an actor and a writer. He was also a writer on some of his brother’s more successful movies, such as Norbit and Vampire in Brooklyn. He was also the star of his own show, ‘Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood Series’.

Also an accomplished voice actor, with credits on ‘The Boondocks’, ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ and others, he was set to appear on the next season of Starz’ Power.
“We just lost one of the funniest most real brothers of all time . Charlie Murphy RIP.” award winning comedian Chris Rock tweeted after the news broke.
