Former member of the now defunct Highlife group Nkasei, Naa Kay, has become the latest in a long line of secular stars who have seen the light and turned to gospel music.
Naa Kay, who together with Shy formed the group which brought us their beloved hit ‘Tuobodom’, says he’s now been touched by the Lord and thus he renounces his past and moves into gospel.
“I have come to understand that God is an organised God and for that matter, he doesn’t do things for just doing them. Everything he created, he made them with a purpose.” he said on why he’s made the switch.
“I have come to understand I was created for a purpose and through prayers I believe God has started answering my prayers by revealing to me what my purpose is on this earth.
“With that in mind, the Hiplife songs I made earlier in my career, there are a few of them that I would not sing again because I now understand I was built for a bigger purpose.”
According to him, that purpose is advising people through song to turn from their wicked ways to the ways of the Lord.
“My gospel is not the generic Gospel, it’s not the usual praises and worship. It’s more of advice for people to move from their bad ways and inspiration to people doing good to move on to do better things. I call it gospel mainly because there is good news in my music.” he explained.
Kay drops his maiden gospel single April 11, titled ‘Aseda Ka’.
