Ghana’s Electoral Commissioner, Mrs Charlotte Osei, has been nominated for the prestigious 2017 Chatham House Prize Award.
Mrs Osei has been nominated for her astute leadership which led to a peaceful and transparent electoral process in Ghana last year.
The prize is presented by the London based independent policy institute, whose official name is the Royal Institute of International Affairs. According to its official website, the honour is awarded to “the person, persons or organization deemed to have made the most significant contribution to the improvement of international relations in the previous year,”
Charlotte Osei would face stiff competition for the award from Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos and the Secretary-General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Jens Stoltenberg.
The winner of the award would be announced at a ceremony slated for Fall 2017.

Previous winners include Médecins Sans Frontières, Melinda Gates and Hilary Clinton. Former President John Agyekum Kuffour won the award in 2008.
