Two Teenagers Die After Being Struck By A Plane Whilst Taking A Selfie On An Airstrip

Since the advent of the selfie, it has claimed the lives  of some quite self absorbed people- including some two on a train, a pilot, and now two teens on an airstrip.

The two girls, Nitzia Mendoza Corral, 18, and Clarissa Morquecho Miranda, 17, were goofing around on the back of a van at the airstrip when a landing aircraft’s wing clipped them on the head.

The incident occurred at the airstrip in Chihuahua, Mexico – MailOnline reports.

The British tabloid reports the girls were warned to get off the back of the van as it was too dangerous, but they largely ignored the warnings and continued filming themselves on their smartphones.

They did not see the approaching light aircraft in time, leading to its wings striking them on the heads and causing immediate fatal injuries.

It’s unclear how the airplane came so close to the vehicle to hit the girls, but a police investigation has been launched into the incident.

18 year old Nitzia was a law student, MailOnline reported, and Clarissa was in her final year of high school.
