In June 2015, the complainant accompanied a friend to visit the pastor, who claimed upon seeing her that evil spirits were after her so she better bring her money to him to pray over.

The complainant thus brought the aforementioned sums to the pastor, who performed some rituals in her presence and promised to pray over the monies.

However, all efforts to retrieve the money from the pastor since have failed, prompting her to report the issue to police, who arrested the ‘man of God’ and charged him with the offence.

Case resumes March 30.
