US President Donald Trump is new to the diplomacy gig, no question, but he’s gotta do it far better than he’s started so far.
In his first few weeks in office, Trump had an explosive phone call with US ally Australia, which exposed his lousy diplomatic skills – but things have cooled down a little since.
Until he met Angela Merkel – the new leader of the free world.

Trump constantly criticised Merkel whilst running for President, claiming she was ‘destroying’ Germany by taking in a significant portion of Syrian refugees fleeing the conflict in their country.
Now that he’s won, he has to work with her but he doesn’t look too thrilled.
Merkel is currently in the States for bilateral talks, and whilst holding a meeting, Merkel asked Trump for a handshake.
