Fan Starts Petition To Have Barcelona-PSG Champions League Game Replayed

An enraged football fan has started a change.org petition to request a replay of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second leg tie between Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

The Spanish side, down 4-0 from the first leg and needing to win by five clear goals to qualify – managed to win by 6-1 to mount an improbable comeback.

But the win was marred by the performance of the referee, who awarded Barcelona two dubious penalties and denied PSG a clear one in the second half.

Thus one fan known as Luis Melendo Olmedo has started a petition to have the match replayed.  Hosted on change.org, Olmedo said the poor performance of referee Deniz Aytekin influenced the tie and led to PSG’s elimination thus necessitating a replay.

The petition has so far surpassed 200,000 signatures, but it’s highly unlikely UEFA would take any action as drastic as ordering a replay of the tie.
