Brazilian Side Chapecoense Wins First International Game After Tragic Plane Crash

Brazilian side Chapecoense won their first international game after the tragic plane crash that wiped out nearly their entire team, beating Venezuelan side Zulia 2-1 in the Copa Libertadores.

Playing in Maracaibo, Chape picked up a win in their debut in the competition, after winning the second tier Copa Sudamericana last year.

19 players of the team had died after the plane carrying them to Colombia for the first leg of the Sudamericana final crashed. The final was postponed and Chape later were awarded the trophy.

Three players survived the crash, and two of them were part of the team that travelled to Venezuela for the game.
