South African Robbers Steal ‘Millions Of Dollars’ By Dressing Up As Police

A group of robbers posing as police officers have carried out an incredible heist in South Africa.

In their police attire, the robbers were able to enter a restricted area at Johannesburg’s OR Tambo Airport, making away with containers of cash!

According to the BBC, reports vary but the consensus figure runs into millions of dollars (in different currencies).

“No shots were fired and no injuries have been reported. The robbers fled‚” Airports Company South Africa said in a statement.

South African journalist Graeme Hosken told the BBC a source inside South Africa’s elite police force The Hawks said the heist was like “something scripted from a Hollywood movie”.

The robbers knew exactly which passes they needed to get in, knew which containers to take in order to get smaller denominations instead of larger ones (the easier to dispose of the money).

“The police have described the robbery as bearing the hallmarks of an inside job.” the BBC adds.

An investigation into the robbery is currently underway.
