Mark Okraku Mantey Facing Allegations Of Hypocrisy For Taking Creative Arts Council Role When He Earlier Said He Wouldn’t

Be careful what you say, it might come back to bite you in the ass one day – Mark Okraku Mantey is experiencing this quite keenly right about now.

The outspoken producer has been appointed to the Creative Arts Council by President Akufo-Addo, as we reported yesterday – alongside actress Bibi Bright and the President’s daughter Gyankroma.

Mark had said in the past that he would not accept such a post if offered, citing backbiting in the industry as the reason.

“My political ambitions would not be destroyed by the creative arts. Anytime someone from our space takes up a position; the agenda is to bring him down and I don’t want people to think that all I can do is creative arts. Don’t box me into creative arts when I can do other things,” he had said on Joy.

With that assertion, why is he now being ‘boxed’ onto the Creative Arts Council?

Industry players like filmmaker Kofas (Kofi Asamoah) and Ola Michael are now asking that question.

“Mark sat on national television and on radio and stated that, he doesn’t want anything to do with people within the Creative Arts. His acceptance to be Head of the Creative Arts now is hypocritical.” Kofas said on Hitz.

Michael Ola also shared a similar sentiment.

“Yes, he is a hypocrite. He stated that, because of ‘pull him down’ syndrome, he doesn’t want to take any position in the sector.”

Do you really think Mark is a hypocrite? Aren’t people allowed to change their minds?
