The heir apparent to the Samsung throne and current vice-Chairman, Lee Jay-yong, is currently facing charges of bribery and embezzlement in his home country of South Korea.
Prosecutors have indicted Lee on the charges, with the de-facto hed of the giant global electronic appliances corporation accused of paying bribes to receive government favours from the administration of former President Park Geun-hye.
Ms Park was recently impeached as part of a similar financial malfeasance scandal.

Allegations against Lee revolve around him paying money to a close associate of the former President to win favours from the government.
He has reportedly paid over 41bn won ($36m) to charities run by Choi Soon-sil, a close ally of the former President.
Lee, the grandson of Samsung founder Lee Byung-chul, currently serves as vice-Chairman of the group, and serves as stand in for his father, Samsung Chairman Lee Kun-hee, who’s has been ill for the past few years.
Four other executives of the organisation were indicted alongside Lee, with all four resigning their posts in the wake of the scandal.
