Uganda’s government-owned New Vision newspaper has released a list of top English speaking countries in Africa this morning–which has gotten a lot of people talking, and Nigeria does not make the list.
According to the newspaper, Uganda has been named the best English-speaking country in Africa in a study conducted by World Linguistic Society.
And here’s the list: 1. Uganda 2. Zambia 3. South Africa 4 . Kenya 5. Zimbabwe 6. Malawi 7. Ghana 8. Botswana 9. Sudan
Though Ghana makes it at number 7–Nigeria is nowhere to be found.
Don’t get excited about this too much because no one seems to know who the determinants, World Linguistic Society, are–they don’t even have a common website.
