An NDC supporter appeared before court Monday on charges of assaulting a neighbour who was an NPP supporter.
Christopher Anani and his neighbour Richard Thompson both live in a compound in Agbogba, and support the two main political parties in Ghana.
Thompson was celebrating the NPP’s announced win on 9th December last year when Anani, irritated by his celebrations, grabbed him and assaulted him, the Ghana News Agency reports.
He was reportedly in his room shouting in jubilation – “We have won, we have won.” – which irritated Anani to no end.
He therefore entered Thompon’s room, grabbed him out to the compound, and assaulted him.

The assault left him with injuries to his nose, eye and legs – as well as suffering from headaches, the Prosecuting inspector revealed in court.
When the case was called, Anani begged for the issue to be settled out of court – a request the judge granted.
The case has thus been turned over to Alternative Dispute Resolution.
