Ex-Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah is a household name but how he started his journey to become a Star is what many don’t know and won’t believe.
The former Juventus player narrating the story on GhOne’s Cheers Tv Show, detailed that his love for beans with plantain was used to convince him to skip school, which landed him on a field to play football where he met a man who discovered him.

According to Stephen who comes from a low profile home, during his early school days in Mamprobi, he had a rich friend who was a truant and one morning that friend invited him to join him on his truancy escapade on the promise of buying him beans and plantain.
“As soon as I heard beans and plantain I said let me follow the guy” Stephen emphasized.
The midfielder revealed that after following his friend for the beans, they saw other kids playing football at the Salvation Army School and his friend once again convinced him to join the team to share his skills.

“Stephen I know that you like to play football so join the boys, so I took off my school uniform and I joined them. We started playing and then there was this man standing like 30m from where we were playing, after we finished playing the man called me and he said ‘we have a Colts Team and we want you to join'” the retired footballer narrated.
Precisely, there and then Stephen started engaging in professional football to the level where he has gotten.

From this insight, we believe Gari, Beans and Plantain should deserve more love and respect than Jollof, looking at the crucial role it played in making Stephen an International Star as we can’t recall how Jollof has changed someone’s life yet.
