Chairman Wontumi Says The Dumsor Hitting Kumasi Is A Result Of Sabotage By ECG Officials

Chairman Wontumi

The return of dumsor has got Ghanaians everywhere worried to death, especially after the elections which has been supposed to usher in ‘change. Yet some people are being forced into darkness and for many Ghanaians, it’s just not good enough.

Resident of the Ashanti Region are suffering the worst part of the dumsor, a situation which has been attributed to sabotage.

The Ashanti Regional Charmian of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, aka Chairman Wontumi, claims saboteurs working with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) are causing the dumsor in the region.

Speaking with Abusua Fm, he said the dumsor is to cause disaffection for the government in its stronghold.

He spoke with Kwame Adinkra on Abusua Nkommo.

“The problem must be resolved, we will not allow this to continue, no way, Dumsor is artificially created by ECG, how can light goes off three to four times in a day, none of the directors of the ECG has been booted out by the government, everybody is at post, so why the sabotage. They have introduced meters which are costing consumers unnecessarily, consumers have even named it Usain bolts. I have a business to protect our power, protect NPP in the region, so I will not allow anybody to undermine the government in the region. I will face boot for boot anybody who will attempt to undermine government. I am a servant for the poor and vulnerable in society, so we will kick against ills in the region, ECG should make sure that the problem is solved, enough of Dumsor.

The unbearable power crisis which we call dumsor has been making a slow but sure return in recent days, although not just in Kumasi. Residents in parts of Accra have also been complaining and among the public, opinions are split on who is to blame for the crisis. Wontumi is pointing the finger squarely at ECG.
