M.anifest and Sarkodie’s rift of who is the best rapper started in 2012 where both rappers were in the VGMAs Best rapper category which saw Sarkodie winning with “u go kill me” against “Ghana Must Go” by M.anifest.
In the following year (2013), they appeared again in the same category and M.anifest for the first time beat Sarkodie to it with his “Makaa Maka” leaving Sarkodie’s “Azonto Fiesta” to lose out on this one.

2014 VGMAs didn’t miss having the duo again to contest for the same plaque. Eventually, Sarkodie’s monster hit with late Castro “Adonai” became triumphant against M.anifest’s “Someway Bi“.
Engaging in the same competition with someone in the same category over a period will certainly attract some rivalry. From this period then, the difference and rivalry deepened between the godMC and self-acclaimed Rap King.
2014 was then the era that birthed or heightened the “shade throwing” between Sarkodie and M.anifest.
In 2014, Sarkodie will now constantly remind us in the recording booth that of course, he’s the King and successful, mind you he picked a BET award in the same year too.

In same 2014, Kwame Amet Tsikita (M.anifest) now on a song like Coptic’s “Keep Shining” also started beating his chest and throwing shades when he said there are “only two rappers in Ghana, M.anifest, and the rest” and that awards don’t really matter.
“B.E.T gives awards to Africans off air, not a diss, just a stone cold fact I swear” he added that punchline in the “Keep Shining” lyrics.
Was that not meant for Sark???
