A Toyota vehicle belonging to NDC MP for Sekyere Afram Plains, Alex Adomako-Mensah, was seized over the weekend by the governmental taskforce in charge of retrieving ‘stolen’ state properties.
The driver of the MP was driving around Achimota Saturday, running errands for the MP, when he was stopped and the car taken from him forcibly.
Speaking on Starr Fm late Sunday, the MP confirmed the incident and expressed alarm that his car could be seized in such a fashion when he has all the necessary documents covering it.
He narrated how the vehicle was seized by the members of the taskforce, who stopped his driver around Achimota and asked for the papers covering the vehicle.

“They asked him to show the papers and he said he had been sent by his boss. The other two [occupants of the vehicle] were dropped and the driver started struggling with the taskforce until a police patrol team came in to save the driver,” he said.
“The car was taken to the Tesano police station and the car was seized and parked there… I went there and there was no one to be found.”
He said he would bring up the issue on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday.

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, set up an interagency taskforce charged with retrieving state properties in the hands of former government officials or private citizens. But so far, the task force’s work has been dogged by high profile seizures which has later turned out to be wrong.
