Cwesi Oteng Charges Gospel Musicians Not To Charge Less Than $25,000 To Perform At Ghana @ 60 Concert

The gospel fraternity in Ghana are not in a great frame of mind, after it was announced that the Ghana @ 60 Concert would be headlined by US gospel singer Don Moen.

The decision has sparked debate over the sidelining of local talent to bring in a foreigner to headline such a crucial national celebration and needless to say, gospel artists are far from happy.

Weighing in on the issue, Cwesi Oteng has charged Ghanaian gospel artists to also charge a significant amount if invited to perform at the show. Taking to his favourite medium of communication, twitter, Oteng called on his colleagues to ensure they are paid their worth if they are to mount the same stage as Moen.

He said: “No Ghanaian gospel artiste, should charge less than $25,000 to climb the Don Moen Stage. $25,000 is not too high an amount for blacks.”

He went on in a separate tweet to note: “Ghanaian artiste over the years have endured big disrespect by those we put in power &those who claim to represent us. It must not continue”

Looks like gospel artists are fed up and they are now standing up to be counted.
