One such voice is Ricky Anokye, who is programs manager at Atinka Fm and CEO of Event Ghana. In a post on Facebook, Anokye wondered why a foreigner has to come in and headline when they are so many legends in Ghana who can do that.

He addressed his concerns to the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in a post on Facebook, copying several relevant stakeholders in his piece.

Dear HE NAADA I am really not happy to address you through this medium but it is my only choice as usual….. Former President Mahama was not labelled incompetent for nothing but for the kind of people he surrounded himself with and how the wasted every opportunity given them to make Ghana work again but rather seek their self interest. I have utmost believe and trust in you but the rate at which you are going I foresee your being worse than the man we just voted out……

Why must we have foreigners headline our Ghana at 60 events…. Creative arts for change supported you with their financial resources and risked their lives everyday in the fight for change not to import performers, gospel or whatever but to make their lives better…. We all including person’s close to JDM that I know condemned the use of Osofia and the ovation man even though they are our neighbors… Why should we applaud you for appointing people who are doing same…..

I can coolly say that Ghana is the mecca of gospel giants and the hotel cost for your imported artist alone can pay for the artistes in Ghana. Nana Kwame Ampadu… Amakye Dede.. Kwadwo Antwi…. et all and the no tribes… Joe Mettle.. Ohemaa Mercy.. And the long list goes on can give us a show or shows we can live with for another 60years if we put half the seriousness we will put in the production of this obroni show. Are we still under servitude or the incompetence is now permeating through our governance and accessories? How do we expect our farmers and rural folks to enjoy and feel the show or the imported artists will perform in our local in our local dialects? Sorry I forgot music is a universal language.

It is too early yet for disgruntlement even from your own fold and agitation from the citizens and mockery from the spectators….. You could have invested this import money in Ghanaian artistes of all types at all district and regional levels and still made Ghanaians happy and content… Let us put value in our people, empower them and facilitate exporting our acts so that they can bring home money. Music and culture and arts are exportable and could generate more from within and from export.

Please advise your men to do de3 3hia ansa na w’ay3 de3 efata!!!
