Spokesperson for the VGMA Awards board, Mark Okraku Mantey, has called on gospel artists intent on returning their awards to do so as Charterhouse would calmly take them back.
According to Okraku Mantey, whilst they don’t really want anyone to return their awards, they have to take them if that situation occurs.
However, after taking them, he said ‘everybody has seen your behaviour’ – implying such acts might probably not be considered for awards in future.
He was speaking on Accra FM in relation to threats by gospel artists like Ohemaa Mercy and OJ to return their plaques due to the George Quaye bribery scandal.

“We cannot force anyone who wants to bring his awards to take it. If you give us reasons as to why you are bringing it, we cannot ask you to keep it even though it is something we have given to you.” he said.
“Kwaw Kese put one of the awards at TV3 saying it was manufactured with woods but I’m sure if you talk to him now, he has regretted doing that but it is late.”
He added: “If you bring it, we have nothing to say, we will accept it but think about the future because everybody has seen your behavior”
